World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day is an international day for global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma. It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health. WFMH is a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries.
The last two years have been trying for all of us. The global pandemic has meant that we have been cut off from our loved ones, near and far. We have had to adjust to homeschooling our children while we work from home. As a result, all these factors, month in and month out have taken a heavy toll on our mental health.
Meditation to stay connected
More people are turning to meditation apps to feel calm during the novel coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the apps are a way to stay connected. This sense of connection and personal interaction meant that in March 2020, 750,000 people downloaded mindfulness and meditation apps. Here’s a first look at some of them: Free mindfulness apps. Some meditation apps: Meditation apps.
