What is COVID-19 Antibody Testing?
Antibody testing is like dusting for finger prints after a crime, rather than catching the virus in the act. If you have had mild symptoms and did not visit your general practitioner, then this test will give you peace of mind if you have antibodies. Rapid Antibody Test determines if a patient has had COVID-19, regardless whether or not they showed symptoms and a positive result would probably mean immunity therefore giving you peace of mind.
How is antibody testing different to COVID-19 nasal swab? Antibody testing differs from diagnostic testing. Antibody testing requires only a few drops of blood to determine if a person has Coronavirus antibodies.
An active COVID-19 infection is detected by taking samples of mucus and saliva and sending these tests to the lab for diagnostic testing.
