Dysport can smooth your between-the-eyebrows frown lines without erasing your expressions. Those frown lines came from repeatedly tightening the underlying muscle. In a word, your skin has not been able to smooth out on its own. As a result, your expression still seems to show your concern, anger, frustration, or whatever emotion caused you to frown in the first place.
It can improve frown lines in just 2-3 days
Dysport can improve your frown lines for up to 4 months after a 10- to 20-minute treatment. It reduces the muscle’s activity by blocking the nerve impulses that try to contract it. If you can smooth your wrinkles by spreading them apart, Dysport might be right for you. As a result, you won’t look frozen, just natural-looking; you control your look!
Dysport is a prescription injection for temporary improvement
It’s not forever! Just as you need to reapply Botox, Xeomin, and Myobloc, you should plan to reapply Dysport periodically. The dose is not the same as those products, so it cannot be compared directly to any other product. Tell the doctor if you have received any of these in the last four months. If you have recently had an antibiotic shot, take muscle relaxants, take allergy or cold medicine, or take a sleep medicine, let the doctor know.
When should I refuse Dysport?
Dr. Nangrani will meet you in a free consultation, and help to identify any reasons that would keep you from enjoying a Dysport frown removal! Avoid Dysport if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Dysport. If you are allergic to cow’s milk protein, had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product (Myobloc, Botox, or Xeomin), or have a skin infection at the planned injection site, don’t use Dysport.
More reasons it might not be for you: if you have had a surgical change to your face, have very weak frown muscles, if you have droopy eyelids or sagging eyelid folds, deep facial scars, or thick, oily skin, if the injection site is inflamed, or if your face looks very different side to side. The doctor can help you decide.
Toxin effects can spread
In some cases, the effects of the toxin may affect areas away from the injection site hours to weeks after injection. Call the doctor after injection if you notice swallowing and breathing problems, loss of strength and muscle weakness. Other signs of difficulty are double or blurred vision and drooping eyelids, hoarseness, trouble saying words clearly, or loss of bladder control. All these are possible effects of any toxin. Under any of these circumstances, do not operate a car or do other dangerous activity and call the doctor immediately.
