There isn’t much data out there on Collagen Supplements but here’s what we do know!

Collagen is the main protein in the human body, found in skin, tendons, ligaments, and other connective tissues. Could collagen supplements add to your excellent health?

Of the 28 types of identifiable collagen, types I, II, and III are the most abundant in the human body, making up 80–90% of total collagen. Types I and III are mainly in your skin and bones, while type II is primarily in the joints.

Your body produces collagen naturally, but supplements have been marketed to help improve skin elasticity, promote joint health, build muscle, burn fat, and more.

Harvard University studies suggest that human studies are lacking. But some randomized, controlled trials have found that collagen supplements improve skin elasticity. Other trials have found that the supplements can improve joint mobility and decrease joint pain such as with osteoarthritis or in athletes.

We also know that in addition to the possible benefits of collagen supplements, certain minimally-invasive procedures can improve collagen production while also improving your facial contour, for example.
