PhotoFacial The Woodlands
A PhotoFacial is performed under doctor supervision using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). Non-invasive and non-ablative, this treatment uses high intensity pulses or flashes of light to improve the appearance of superficial lines and wrinkles, large pores, uneven, rough skin texture, unwanted dark hair, and specifically targets ‘reds’ and ‘browns’ in the skin.
Reds include broken capillaries, ruby points, couperose conditions, vascular lesions, rosacea.
Browns include hyper-pigmentation, solar freckling, age spots, epidermal melasma, discoloration.
The PhotoFacial Procedure
A series of 5–6 treatments is generally recommended, and varies by individual. A skin consultation and Fitzpatrick Typing is performed prior to scheduling treatment, to determine candidacy.
The Fitzpatrick scale (also Fitzpatrick skin-typing test, or Fitzpatrick phototyping scale) is a numerical classification schema for human skin color. It was developed in 1975 by Thomas B. Fitzpatrick, a Harvard dermatologist, as a way to classify the typical response of different types of skin to ultraviolet (UV) light. Later, it was updated to also contain a wider range of skin types. The Fitzpatrick scale remains a recognized tool for dermatological research into human skin pigmentation. source: Wikipedia
